Photography Project: Vincent Drummond

After a short hiatus, our Photography Project is back, Vincent Drummond contributing the latest edition, with some cracking naturally lit shots inside.

We fully recommend you check his portfolio on his website which includes some absolutely incredible work across all mediums, his collages, of which he is producing one a week for a year, are especially impressive.

I’m not a photographer.
I have no idea about f stops or depth of field.
My camera is not very good and I don’t know what SLR means.
I just like taking photographs.

A lot of my work is in black & white. It is dark and grainy, stark, off centre, dusty and possibly out of focus.
If I do shoot in colour then I like to use fairly desaturated & sombre colours.
There is no special reason why. It’s just the way I like to make art.
(Although there is probably a small part of me that continues to work in this way as a backlash against the hipstamatic app on the iPhone).

I use available light and I like to shoot into the sun, forcing the camera to make everything dark.
I also like photographing things in low light to get movement & graininess.
I don’t do any postproduction on my images. Apart from resizing them, they are exactly as they came out of the camera.
