GoldFFinch – Point Of Entry/Arabian Prince (877)

877′s second release sees Belgian bass music producers GoldFFinch bring two solid and well produced techy stompers to the plate in the form of ‘Point of Entry‘ and ‘Arabian Prince

Previous releases on Numbers and Airflex have been slightly lighter affairs, both nodding not-so-subtly at the past years output of multi-genre’d UK bass music. This release is no different but is by far their strongest yet.

On the A-side ‘Point of Entry‘ is a big, ballsy techno-slash-crunk-slash-footwork-slash-whatever number whose sole job it seems is to drill your body into a militant 4×4 step. The pitched down vocal and bubbling toms add texture and depth but subtle this track is not, and the second drop will absolutely murder a dancefloor I guarantee. Those glorious wet wobbly bass flexes after the second drop instantly remind the listener of Fis-T’s ‘Deep Mover’ on Oneman’s 502 label.

B-side ‘Arabian Prince‘, follows roughly the same formula as ‘Point of Entry‘ but is straight up techno. More Rammstein than Aladdin, the odd title is a misnomer but the track itself delivers a potent combo of monotone bassline and grinding, rolling drums. The bassline is stopped from being ever-so-slightly boring by the well produced groove that stands up against the dominating 4×4 patter. Another pitched down, reverb drenched vocal looms menacingly over the track like a merciless dictator, commanding the dancefloor and listener alike in a regimented, dare-I-say… Germanic tone?

Very Techno. Very Aggressive. Bordering on the slightly silly, both tracks are more than fun and very effective when the intended pinch of salt is administered.
